If you have kids, it’s become almost a rite of passage for them to go to Florida if you can possibly afford it – and to ‘do’ Orlando Disney, Sea World, Wet ‘n Wild, EPCOT and all the other stuff.

For parents, this may not be quite the trip of a lifetime it is for the kids. But some parents love it – it’s all a question of personal tastes. The beauty of Florida is that it offers something for everyone. This may sound like something of a cliché but it’s quite true of the sunshine state. So for nature lovers, there are the quiet beaches of the gulf and the long coastline rich in unique flora and fauna. For out an out beach lovers, here are beaches galore. For young people, there’s the nightlife of Miami and so many other big cities, and for a little chic, there are the Florida Keys.
But for families, Orlando is usually the “compulsory” destination; love it or hate it.
If you’re on a tight budget, then the easiest advice is perhaps to avoid a trip in the first place! There’s so much to do here for kids, that you can’t possibly do it all. So keep an eye out for the special offers on attractions and book hotels and motels carefully. Staying just off the major routes outside towns and cities can save you a fortune and after all, you didn’t come here to look at the inside of a hotel room!
Hunt for the best car hire deal. You will need a car hire; it’s pretty much the only way to get around with a family. If you’re planning a lot of driving, then try and hire a hybrid car.
Besides being good for the environment, cars like the Honda Insight or Toyota Prius should be readily available and will seemingly go on forever on a single tank of gas.
Driving huge distances may not be ideal with kids. But if you children are older or you don’t have any with you – then it’s perfectly possible to take in other southern states from a flight to Orlando – and these flights tend to be cheaper due to the predominance of charter flights for people going to Disney etc.
